Mosaic, the browser that opened the web

Marc Andreessen and Eric Bina wrote it at the national supercomputing centre, and it did the one thing earlier browsers had not: put the pictures on the page with the text, on Windows, for free. Web traffic grew by orders of magnitude within a year. Nearly every browser since traces back to it, Internet Explorer by direct licence.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
