The school opened in 1925 as Takoma Park Silver Spring High and took a new name in 1935 after Montgomery Blair, who argued Dred Scott's case at the Supreme Court and later served Lincoln as Postmaster General. It moved to this Four Corners site in 1998. With more than 3,200 students it has the largest enrollment of any high school in Maryland.
