Miami Springs and the wellfield that waters most of the county
1926
Miami Springs, Florida
Curtiss laid this town out in 1926 as Country Club Estates and it was renamed Miami Springs in 1930. The springs in the name were real. Wells sunk here and in neighbouring Hialeah reach the Biscayne Aquifer about eighty feet down, and that wellfield together with one further west still supplies almost all the drinking water for Miami-Dade north of Southwest 8th Street, Miami Beach included.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
