Gary built this 5,000 seat hall in 1927 as its First World War memorial, choosing a building the public could actually use over a monument to look at. Harry Truman spoke here during the 1948 campaign, and the room also carried graduations, music festivals and early Jackson 5 performances. It closed in 1972, burned inside in 1997 and was demolished in 2020.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
