After a run of burglaries the Medina city council voted unanimously in 2007 to put licence plate cameras on every road into the city, and the system was running by 2009. Every plate entering or leaving the three thousand person town is photographed, logged and kept for sixty days whether or not anything is wrong. A sign at the city line tells drivers they are entering a surveillance area. The ACLU of Washington objected that the town was keeping records on people who had done nothing.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
