1851
James Island, Charleston
Dr. Blazer · CC BY-SA 4.0 · Wikimedia Commons
A sea-island cotton plantation interpreted from the perspective of the enslaved rather than the house. Its row of cabins was lived in by descendants of the enslaved until 1990, which is within living memory for many visitors.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
