Marrow Bone Spring, the water that put Arlington here

A reliable spring on the prairie was a camp long before anyone surveyed it, and Sam Houston's envoys came through in 1843 looking for a treaty with the tribes who used it. Mathias Travis and I. C. Spence opened a trading post at the water in 1845, Middleton Tate Johnson posted troops nearby, and the settlement that grew around it became Arlington. The ground went on the National Register in 1978.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
