Louis Armstrong opens Texas Hall
1965
Arlington, Texas

The 2,625 seat theater on the Arlington campus opened on October 18, 1965 with Louis Armstrong playing the first night. The room has since carried everything from Neil Diamond and Harry Chapin to Maya Angelou and Benazir Bhutto. For a town sitting between two much larger cities, it was the first hall big enough to pull touring acts of that size off the highway.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
