Lake Placid, the town of murals

A Highlands County town that responded to obscurity by painting nearly fifty giant murals on its buildings, then leaned in: hidden animals in every mural, a trash-can art trail, and a visitors bureau happy to tell you Reader's Digest once named it America's most interesting town. It also grows about 95 percent of the world's caladium bulbs, which is its other, quieter flex.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
