L.L.Bean and the Maine Hunting Shoe

Leon Bean stitched leather uppers to rubber boot bottoms because he was tired of coming home with wet feet, sold 100 pairs by mail, and 90 came back when the seams failed. He refunded every one, which set the return policy the company was known for. The flagship store has no locks on the doors and has stayed open since 1951.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
