Ludovico Barbati came from Torella dei Lombardi in 1917 and by 1938 was selling spumoni and Italian ice off a horse and wagon. In 1939 he bought a vacant lot on 86th Street to make it on. By the mid 1950s the site held a spumoni factory, a luncheonette and the pizzeria, and the square Sicilian slice is what the queue is for.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
