Kaaterskill Falls and the tourists who came for it

A two-drop waterfall higher than Niagara, painted by Thomas Cole and written up by Irving and Bryant until it became the first natural feature in America that people travelled to purely to look at. A hotel above it dammed the stream and charged visitors to have the water let out on request.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
