Greycourt State Park and the ruins of Tenney Castle
1977
Methuen, Massachusetts

Charles Tenney made money in hats and then in New York insurance, and built a stone mansion on this hill in the 1880s. It burned in 1977, and the state turned twenty four acres and the surviving stonework into a park. Edward Searles put up a castle of his own next door, which left Methuen with two of them.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
