Thomas Ince opened this studio in 1918 and it passed through Cecil B. DeMille, Pathe, RKO and David O. Selznick before it was called Culver Studios. On the evening of 10 December 1938 Selznick had old standing sets on the backlot doused with kerosene and set alight to film the burning of Atlanta, including the great wall built for King Kong. Clearing the ground that way also made room for the Tara set.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
