Georgette Scott Campbell opened this boarding house in 1940, serving breakfast, lunch and tea and renting rooms to African American guests who had almost nowhere else to sleep in Miami. Performers and activists passing through in the 1940s and 1950s stayed here. It received a local historic designation in 1990 and was donated to Bethany Seventh-day Adventist Church across the street in 2012, which has been raising restoration money since 2023.
