Foster School, at Foster Street and Dewey Avenue, was where Evanston's Black children went to school while District 65 stayed segregated in practice. In 1967 the district reorganized and the Martin Luther King Jr. Laboratory School, which by then occupied the Foster building, was merged with Skiles Middle School on this site. The result is the K through 8 magnet school that carries King's name today.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
