Eldridge Seth Fenton opened his creamery at 41st and Howe in 1894 and the business moved a few blocks to Piedmont Avenue in 1961. It is the longest continuously operating creamery in California, still churning from a small dairy herd in West Marin, and the founder's grandson worked out its toasted almond, Swiss milk chocolate and rocky road. An arson fire gutted the place in 2001 and it was rebuilt at a cost of more than two million dollars.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
