Devil's Lake and the quartzite bluffs
1911
Sauk County, Wisconsin
Joshua Mayer from Madison, WI, USA · CC BY-SA 2.0 · Wikimedia Commons
A lake with no inlet or outlet, dammed at both ends by glacial moraine between 500-foot bluffs of 1.6-billion-year-old quartzite. The Ho-Chunk name means sacred lake. The English one is a mistranslation.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
