Catonsville grew as a streetcar suburb along the Frederick Turnpike the Ellicott family cut in 1787. Knode's Music Center opened at Frederick Road and Bloomsbury Avenue in 1960 and seeded a cluster of instrument shops, record stores and teaching studios in a few walkable blocks. The Maryland legislature made the nickname official by proclamation in 2002.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
