Brumby Hall outlives the military academy next to it
1851
Marietta, Georgia

Arnoldus Brumby, a West Point graduate, built this house in Marietta in 1851, the same year the Georgia Military Institute opened in the town with him as its first superintendent. Union troops burned the academy in 1864 and it was never rebuilt, so the house outlasted the school. Brumby served as a Confederate colonel and the house is on the National Register. The same Marietta family name went onto the Brumby rocking chair, in production from 1875.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
