Bread and Puppet
1974
Glover, Vermont
WhiskeyFoxtrot7 · CC BY-SA 4.0 · Wikimedia Commons
A radical puppet theater that moved from the Lower East Side to a Glover farm in 1974 and has spent fifty years staging pageants with puppets the size of barns, serving free sourdough with aioli after every show because bread and art belong together. The old dairy barn is now a museum stuffed floor to rafters with decades of giant gods, butchers and washerwomen. The Cheap Art manifesto is painted on school buses.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
