Bramwell, where the coal barons lived
1888
Bramwell, West Virginia

A town of some four thousand people that was said to hold more millionaires per head than anywhere in America, on the profits of Pocahontas smokeless coal. The owners built stone and half-timbered mansions with indoor plumbing and imported tile within walking distance of the camps their miners were paid in company scrip to live in. Fourteen of the houses still stand.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
