1975

County clerk Clela Rorex read the Colorado marriage statute in 1975, found nothing in it that named a husband and a wife, and issued licences to six same-sex couples at this counter. The state attorney general told her to stop within weeks and the licences were later treated as void. The 1933 courthouse was named a National Historic Landmark in 2024 for being the first place in the United States where those licences were issued.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
