Tarpon stack up in the deep pass here every spring in numbers found almost nowhere else, and the town has called itself the tarpon capital of the world since the first one was taken on rod and reel in the 1880s. It was also a phosphate port. The railway that hauled the rock is now the bike path down the island.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
