Black Sunday and the naming of the Dust Bowl

A dust wall thousands of feet high crossed the Panhandle on a clear Sunday afternoon, turning day to full dark. An Associated Press reporter filing that night coined Dust Bowl. The phrase reached Congress within a week as the Soil Conservation Act.
