Three hundred and fourteen acres laid out in 1849 in the rural cemetery style, meaning it was designed as a park to walk in before the city had parks. William Clark is here under a granite obelisk, Adolphus Busch under a Gothic mausoleum with a working chime, and Ellis Wainwright's wife under Louis Sullivan's tomb, which Frank Lloyd Wright called a piece of architecture rather than a grave.
