Students voted in 2008 to tax themselves for a new football ground, and the 78 million dollar result opened in 2011 next to the interstate. HKS designed it around recycled materials and cut energy and water use hard enough to win Platinum certification, the first new-build college stadium in the country to manage it. Three wind turbines went up beside it that December, paid for with a state energy grant, feeding the grid that runs the building. It is now named DATCU Stadium.
