Angeles Abbey and its Byzantine mausoleum
1923
Compton, California
The mausoleum built here in 1923 borrows from Byzantine, Moorish and Spanish design, which is why film and television crews keep using it to stand in for the Middle East and South Asia, The Untouchables among them. More than 35,000 plots are filled and there is almost nothing left to sell, so the cemetery's money has run down and vandalism has been a steady problem.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
