Amelia Earhart Park sits on the field she left from on her last flight
1937
Hialeah, Florida
On 1 June 1937 Amelia Earhart and her navigator Fred Noonan took off from Miami Municipal Airport, out by Le Jeune Road, on the first leg of the round the world attempt they never finished. Miami renamed the field for her in October 1947. The Navy had absorbed it into Naval Air Station Miami during the war, and after the runways came out the county kept 515 acres of the ground as a park that still carries her name.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
