A Cleveland disc jockey was playing rhythm and blues to white teenagers and calling it rock and roll. He booked an arena for 10,000 and perhaps 20,000 turned up. The doors gave way and police shut it down after one song, arguably the first rock concert, and the reason the Hall of Fame is here.
