The 1733 rising on St. John
1733
Coral Bay, Saint John, US Virgin Islands
Public domain · Wikimedia Commons
Enslaved Akwamu people took the fort at Coral Bay and held most of the island for six months, one of the longest such revolts in the Americas. It ended when French troops arrived from Martinique. Rather than be taken, many of the rebels killed themselves at Ram Head.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
