Where Bigfoot was filmed
1967
Bluff Creek, Del Norte County, California
A gravel sandbar on Bluff Creek, in the forest country of northern California well off any paved road. On 20 October 1967 Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin were on horseback here when they filmed about a minute of 16mm footage of a large upright figure walking away from them across the creek bed and into the trees. It is the most examined piece of film in the whole subject and the argument over it has never settled: people have spent decades on the gait, the arm length, the muscle movement under the hair, and on whether a suit could have looked like that in 1967. The creek has shifted since and the exact spot is argued over too, though the stretch is well established. What circulates now is mostly stabilised versions like this one, run through software that holds the figure still while the background moves.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
