Every establishing shot of the apartment where Monica and Rachel lived, and Chandler and Joey across the hall, is this corner of Bedford and Grove. Nothing else about the show is here. Every interior was a stage on the other side of the country, and the building the camera pointed at went up in 1899, a six storey Renaissance Revival apartment house by Schneider and Herter with a restaurant in the ground floor corner. It is one of the most photographed doorways in New York and it is also somebody's home, so the whole of the visit is standing on the pavement and looking up.
