Edison holds its September 11 service at the memorial fountain in Papaianni Park, in front of a white stone wall that reads EDISON REMEMBERS. In 2019, with a speaker at the podium and the rows of folding chairs full, a man in a white shirt rode a bicycle straight through the gap between the front row and the monument. He did not slow down and he did not look across. Nobody stopped him, the speaker carried on, and the crossing took about two seconds. Someone a few rows back was filming, which is the only reason anyone outside Edison knows about it.
