Kenny Pickett's fake slide
Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, North Carolina
Third down in the ACC championship, and Pittsburgh's quarterback broke containment, picked up the first down, then stutter-stepped and started to slide. Two Wake Forest defenders pulled up, because a quarterback giving himself up is not a man you are allowed to hit. Kenny Pickett was not giving himself up. He cut back and ran another forty yards to finish a fifty eight yard touchdown, and said afterwards he had meant to do it. Wake Forest's coach asked for a rules review, the NCAA outlawed the simulated slide for the following season, and the rule has been called the Kenny Pickett Rule ever since.
