UW-Madison's Native American student organization Wunk Sheek, founded in 1968, hosts a free powwow open to the public each Indigenous Peoples' Day, the second Monday of October, with traditional dancing, drumming, and food. The event has been held on campus since at least 2021, most recently at Dejope Residence Hall.
