Tyler crowns a Rose Queen and her court each October in a festival that has run since 1933, anchored by a parade of flower covered floats through downtown and tours of the fourteen acre Tyler Rose Garden. The city grew into the country's rose growing capital in the early 1900s, and the festival still draws visitors statewide for the coronation and parade. It is one of the oldest continuously run festivals in Texas.
