Since 2017, the neighborhood bar The Centennial in The Nations has held an annual day-long celebration of actor Patrick Swayze on the weekend closest to his birthday. What began as a joke between two bar staffers has grown into a West Nashville tradition covered repeatedly by local press, now including an associated charity 5K called the Swayze Classic.
