Smyrna calls itself the Jonquil City for the flowers that come up along its streets in early spring.
Cobb Center opened in Smyrna on 15 August 1963 under the name Cobb County Shopping Center, the second mall built in the state.
The Braves did not just move to Cobb County, they built and kept the district around the ballpark: shops, restaurants, offices, a hotel and apartments, all under one landlord.
When it opened on 8 August 1973 at the Interstate 285 and Cobb Parkway interchange, Cumberland Mall was the biggest shopping centre in the state.
