When the bypass took the through traffic away in the 1980s, Mount Horeb leaned on its Norwegian ancestry and filled Main Street with trolls: around forty of them now, carved, painted or cut out of logs with a chainsaw, each with a name and a job: the Chicken Thief, the Accordion Player, Sweet Swill.
