Sanibel Island's shell show has run since the late 1930s, judging shell art and rare specimens alongside live mollusk exhibits from the island's Shell Museum. It is one of the country's oldest shell shows, reflecting Sanibel's reputation as one of the best shelling beaches in North America. (Held in early March; 2027 dates approximate.)
