Rush Springs celebrates the watermelon variety that made it famous with a Friday parade, a Saturday car show, and a free watermelon feed that goes through roughly 50,000 pounds of fruit. The festival has run since 1948 and now draws upward of 20,000 visitors to a town of about 1,300 people. A seed spitting contest and a 5K road race round out the weekend.
