Downtown Rochester's Main Street is strung with more than a million lights each holiday season, kicked off with a Lagniappe celebration in late November. The display has run annually since 2011 and draws visitors from across metro Detroit through mid-January.

Troy tore through its farm township in a single postwar generation, so residents who formed a historical society in 1966 gathered up what was left and moved it onto one site: a log cabin, a brick one room school, a print shop, a wagon shop, a general store, a church and a parsonage.
