The Boone County Chamber has produced Pufferbilly Days since 1976, a September weekend built around the town's railroad heritage with a parade, carnival, car show and rides on the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad. Downtown Boone closes around 9th and Story Streets for the celebration, which marks its 50th anniversary in 2026.
