A four-day festival in Le Mars, home to Wells Enterprises and self-styled Ice Cream Capital of the World since 1994. Now in its 32nd year, the festival gives out free ice cream alongside a carnival, parade, and 5K.

Sergeant Charles Floyd was the only member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition to die on the journey, on August 20, 1804, probably of a burst appendix, and the party buried him on this bluff above the Missouri, which now carries his name.
