The Sergeant Floyd Monument
Floyd's Bluff, Sioux City, Iowa
Sergeant Charles Floyd was the only member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition to die on the journey, on August 20, 1804, probably of a burst appendix, and the party buried him on this bluff above the Missouri, which now carries his name. In 1901 a 100 foot sandstone obelisk was finished over his grave. In 1960 it became the first National Historic Landmark in the United States.
That was 1 of the hidden places.
