Emancipation Park, the oldest park in Texas and land bought by formerly enslaved Houstonians in 1872 specifically to celebrate Juneteenth, hosts the city's marquee Juneteenth concert every June 19th. The Reunion pairs national R&B, gospel and hip hop acts with a community domino tournament and a kids zone. The park has hosted Juneteenth gatherings on this ground longer than anywhere else in the state.
