Jacksonville calls itself the Tomato Capital of the World, and each June its historic downtown fills with a tomato themed parade, a salsa contest, and stands selling the East Texas crop the town was built on. The festival has run since the 1980s on the second Saturday of June. Commerce Street between Austin and Bolton closes to traffic for the day.
