Downtown Pikeville turns into a self-mocking Appalachian carnival each spring, with Shriners in overalls leading a parade to raise money for Shriners Children's Hospital in Lexington. Multiple stages carry bluegrass and country acts alongside an artisan village, food vendors, and a full midway. It has run since 1977 and now draws more than 100,000 visitors.
