Each August, teams from LeClaire, Iowa and Port Byron, Illinois take opposite ends of a 2,700 foot rope for the country's only interstate tug of war, pulled across the Mississippi River. The three day festival has run since the late 1980s and draws tens of thousands to the levees on both banks.
